It was great to share the same stage tonight as local legend, performance poet Spoz, and rising star Hannah Swings. They were joined by the Birmingham Uni Slammers, fresh from winning the top awards at the national UniSlam 2018.
I joined the open-mic line-up to showcase a piece that I’ve been experimenting with recently, trying out various forms. Is it a poem in 3 line stanzas, or a flash fiction? I can never resist the chance to tell a story.
The piece is based on a true-life experience in a Spa-pool where what I thought I saw was not necessarily what was actually happening – bizarre as it seemed at the time. Seems apt, as the working title for the piece is Perception.
