I joined a group of writers online for my first ever experience of the famous Arvon writing weeks. It was online, as the centres have only just started to open post-Covid lockdowns.

Novelists and short story experts Nicholas Royle and Wyl Menmuir both were excellent tutors and the group loved the experience.

It was an intense but satisfying time of creativity, exploring the surreal, uncanny and imaginative world of magic realism. We looked at ways of creating and exploring the links between the natural and the fantastical. There were some surprising results! I am still processing it all now.

One day I might even explore the story behind this image, taken on a walk along the Cornwall coast in more adventurous days. See Arvon’s website if you want to see more of what they’re offering this season.
