As a storyteller, Jane specialises in telling true-life tales.  She has performed in theatres, art galleries, libraries, bookshops, cafes. In fact, anywhere that people gather to hear stories.

As a result of appearing in the successful Tell Me On A Sunday shows at The Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, she met her mentor, international storyteller and author Cat Weatherill who invited Jane to join a troupe of true-life tellers Flashlight Storytellers. From 2014 – 2016, the company performed at a variety of storytelling events in the West Midlands, introducing the ‘true-life storytelling’ model to the circuit. Their inspiration was the iconic show The Moth in New York. This is a legendary event which celebrates the craft of “true stories told live”.

In addition, Arts Council funded projects enabled Jane to run Workshops in Storytelling. These included her time as Writer/Storyteller in Residence for the Voices from the Ashes project, in Birmingham. Jane also worked as Project Assistant on the monthly Mee Club at The Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry where she performed as a regular ‘guest’ storyteller and hosted and co-hosted various shows at the Gallery.

Here Cat Weatherill explains a little more about the project…

Since then, Jane has performed as a ‘guest’ storyteller in spoken word gigs all over the Midlands. Her repertoire contains comic & poignant stories that last between 7 – 10 mins.

The next step is to create her own show.
