Kitchen Garden Cafe, Birmingham

A new fusion of storytelling and spoken word, StoryVibes, has come to town.

The  brainchild of storyteller Sharon Carr, this eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary stories, music and poetry had its launch show at The Kitchen Garden Cafe, Kings Heath. This is a popular venue for storytelling and music in South Birmingham, so it was great to be invited to take part.

I performed alongside other invited ‘wordsmiths’ from the Midlands, while the headliner was international storyteller Sef Townsend, who presented The Pongo’s Dream with talented musician Inigo Barrade offering evocative tales from Latin America.

It was my turn to start the second half of the show, performing one of my favourite true-life stories… The Lion, the Wolf & The Cornershop.

“Jane, I found your story very engaging, powerful and thought provoking… there was a tear in my eye during your telling and I’m sure I was not alone.”
