Good to be back here at Spoken Trend, compered by the wonderful Tom McCann, with the chance to ‘strut my stuff’ in the open mics.

Headliners Black Country star R M Francis and former Derbyshire Poet Laureate Matt Black both launched their new poetry chapbooks.

I had a chance to trial a spoken word version of my stage monologue The Jump – based on a true story of a blind paralympian. This has already been performed by actors at a Scatch night of new theatre @ The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham, but it works well as a spoken word piece in its own right and I enjoyed performing it.

It was a quality crowd and good fun, as usual, and…oh yes, I won a stonking prize in the raffle!
